One Direction Land Their Own Nickelodeon Show

16 Mar

UK boyband One Direction are in talks to be getting their own TV show on the Nikelodeon channel.

Since visiting America to promote their music, the boys have appeared on Nickelodeon’s popular show iCarly, as well as securing performances at the upcoming Kids Choice Awards and prime time show Saturday Night Live.

Nickelodeon confirmed the rumors of One Direction landing their own show to be true, tweeting earlier today: “The rumours are true,”  “Our live-action slate does include a development project for One Direction. Welcome to the family!”

The X Factor band seem to have ‘cracked America’ with their album charting in the top 10 on the US itunes charts, and celebrities such as Justin Bieber and Katy Perry expressing their support for the group. The band are on course to top the Billboard charts this week with their US single ‘What Makes You Beautiful’, if they succeed they will be the first UK act to do so with their debut single in over 14 years.

Fellow British boyband The Wanted have also been creating a storm in the US, after appearing on The Ellen Degeneres Show and supporting the likes of Britney Spears and Justin Bieber on tour. The band reached the No.2 spot on the US itunes singles chart, and are set to challenge One Direction with the launch of their US album.

Details of One Directions Nickelodeon show have not yet been released, but are thought to be revealed shortly. UK One Direction fans need not worry that they have lost the band to America, as the boys have just been confirmed to do a UK arena tour next year.
