Little Mix Perform ‘Don’t Let Go’ at NTA’s

26 Jan

Girlband of the moment Little Mix, made a big appearance at last nights National Television Awards singing En Vogue’s classic hit ‘Don’t Let Go’.

It was the girls performance of this song during their time on The X Factor last year which really propelled them to their victory. Unsurprisingly they once again pulled off an incredible rendition of the song last night, adding to The X Factor’s success of scooping up the award for Best Talent Show.

The four girls who have recently started working on material for their debut album, have undeniably great voices, this combined with their ‘girl-next-door’ likability makes them sure to give the likes of The Saturdays a run for their money in the stakes of Britain’s biggest girlband.

The Voice UK Panel Unveiled

8 Dec

The final two mentors to star on the BBC’s The Voice were confirmed earlier today.

Welsh star Tom Jones, and The Script’s Danny O’Donoghue will be joining Jessie J and Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am on the panel of mentors.

The diverse panel encourages contestants from all musical backgrounds to take part in the show. Danny O’Donoghue will be keen to mentor acts which have an alternative and ‘rocky’ sound, whilst Jessie J will be great for those who want to take the Pop route. Will.i.am is sure to bring his expertise to those who are interested in urban music, whilst Tom Jones will be great for older contestants and those with more powerful/soulful voices.

Not only will the diverse panel bring a broader range of industry experience than the judges seen on shows like The X Factor, they are also likely to draw in a more diverse audience due to their age range and musical backgroud.

The Voice is due to debut on BBC One early next year, with Holly Willoughby and Reggie Yates fronting the show.

8 Dec

Former ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ star Amy Childs is set to star in Channel 5’s reality dating show ‘The Bachelorette’. ‘

The Bachelorette’ is already a hit show in the US, and the male version of the show ‘The Bachelor’ appeared on UK screens earlier this year with Rugby star Gavin Henson. Whilst on the show Amy will have to choose between 25 young single males whom she would like to date through a series of elimination tasks.

Since leaving TOWIE Amy appeared in Channel 5’s ‘Celebrity Big Brother’, before securing her own reality show ‘It’s All About Amy’. However, it may come as a surprise for some that Amy landed this new show, as the reception for ‘It’s All About Amy’ has not been great.

It is also rumored that fellow TOWIE star Kirk Norcross will star in the second series of ‘The Bachelor’ early next year.

Will.i.am Confirmed For The Voice UK

2 Dec

Upcoming BBC talent show The Voice has just confirmed that Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am will be joining the show as a mentor.

Jessie J was previously confirmed as a mentor a couple of months ago, with rumors of the three remaining mentors rife. Now Will.i.am has been announced to be joining the show, rumors are circulating that the two remaining mentor slots are thought to be Tom Jones and Will Young however, these have not been confirmed.

Will.i.am may not perhaps be known for having an outstanding voice, however, he has worked with some of the World’s biggest stars including Michael Jackson, Usher and Nicki Minaj.

The BBC signing Jessie J and Will.i.am for The Voice is sure to attract young viewers to the show. The show will go up against ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent when it airs early next year, and from the buzz that’s been building, it seems The Voice is favorite to win in the battle of the ratings.

The X Factor UK Charity Single Video Unveiled

26 Nov

The video for The X Factor 2011 charity single ‘Wishing On A Star’ has just been revealed.

The final 16 contestants from this years show feature on the track, which is a cover of Rose Royce’s 1978 chart hit.

Past contestants JLS and One Direction also make an appearance on the song and in the video, although it is somewhat brief. It was rumored that X Factor boss Simon Cowell asked the two boybands to appear on the track at the last minute due to fears that the charity single would not sell enough copies with just this years contestants featuring on it.

The video sees the contestants performing as well as visiting sick children at a hospital. It does seem that Kelly’s girls have a strong part to play in the video, with Misha B, Janet and Sophie Habibis featuring frequently, whilst other contestants only make small appearances. It is not until the last minute that JLS and One Direction appear which can’t help but seem slightly random.

Proceeds of ‘Wishing On A Star’ will be going to the children’s charity ‘Together For Short Lives’. The song will be available to download on November 27th and out in stores on November 28th.

The X Factor UK Show 2 Theme Revealed

13 Oct

This Saturday’s X Factor theme has just been unveiled.

The second live show will see contestants singing songs with a ‘love and heartbreak’ theme. The theme is expected to bring out the 12 remaining contestants ‘vulnerable’ sides and show who can give emotional performances and who can’t.

News of this years X Factor charity single has also emerged, with contestants set to cover Rose Royce’s hit ‘Wishing On A Star’. It is thought that the contestants recorded the single, which will raise money for Children’s Hospices in the UK earlier this week.

Catch the X Factor this Saturday on ITV1 at 7.45pm.

The X Factor UK- Live Show 1

9 Oct

The first live show of this years X Factor went underway last night, and unsurprisingly it was one of the best shows in X Factor history.

The four judges seemed perfectly at home on the panel and as the show progressed the tension and competitive nature of the stars grew.

Each of the judges four acts performed one track and rather controversialy the judges will choose which one of their acts they think should leave the competition on tonight’s show rather than it being down to the public vote.

In general the standard of performances last night were high.

In the boys category, the weakest performances came from Frankie Cocozza, who not only had the weakest vocals out of the boys, he also seemed to let nerves get to him- perhaps it was the eye liner that made him feel uncomfortable. Marcus Collins and James Michael both gave strong performances and received praise from most of the judges. However, the stand out boy had to be Craig Colton, who sang an amazing rendition of Christina Perri’s ‘Jar Of Hearts’. Watch and listen to his performance below…

For the girls, again the four acts pulled off strong performances for a first live show. Amelia Lily kicked off the show with a confident performance, however by the time Misha and Janet had sung, her performance was somewhat forgettable. Personally, Janet had the edge over Misha, with her chilling rendition of Coldplay’s ‘Fix You’. Listen to it below….

The groups are traditionally a weak category, but this year Tulisa has done a fairly good job. Rhythmix started it off for the girls, with a great performance of Nicki Minaj’s ‘Superbass’ and the girls really looked like a young current band, the only negative was that the girls rapping was slightly weak. 2 shoes, pulled out a solid performance, but boyband Nu Vibe failed to pull off the vocals or dance moves to their song. The group which stood out had to be The Risk with their performance of Plan B’s ‘She Said’, watch that performance below…

Finally the over 25’s as predicted were the weaker of the four categories with Johnny, Jonjo and Kitty all giving rather underwhelming performances. Luckily for Louis, Sami Brookes pulled off arguably the best vocals of the night. Watch her performance below…

[

The show will be back tonight, with the judges making the difficult decision as to who was the weakest act from their group and should leave the competition.

Amy Childs Lands Her Own Reality Show

4 Oct

It was announced earlier today that Amy Childs has signed up for her own reality show with Channel 5.

Many people were shocked when Amy left the Bafta winning ITV2 show ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ in favour of Channel 5’s Celebrity Big Brother this summer. With ‘TOWIE’ still bringing in huge audiences, it soon became clear that ITV were not interested in signing Amy up for her own reality show. Luckily she made a good impression with Channel 5 bosses on her stint in the Big Brother house, and they signed her up for her own show.

The show will be a fly-on-the-wall show called ‘It’s All About Amy’, which follows her everyday life as well as her opening up her own beauty salon. It is expected that her family will also appear in the show. ‘It’s All About Amy’ will appear on TV in December with eight-episodes.

The viewing figures for Channel 5 shows do tend to be a lot lower than that of ITV2 shows, so the success of Amy’s new show is yet to be determined. Will ‘TOWIE’ fans tune in to watch the Essex star or will their interest in her be faded now the series is running with new stars.

Jessie J Confirmed As A Coach On The Voice UK

4 Oct

Jessie J was confirmed as the first coach for the BBC’s new talent show The Voice UK. The news broke on Chris Moyles BBC 1 radio show this morning.

The American version of The Voice has been a huge hit with music stars Christina Aguilera, Cee-lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton coaching contestants. The US show will be returning for a second season early next year.

The format of the show is very different to talent shows like the X Factor. Coaches pick hopefuls who audition for the show based purely on their voice as they will have their back to them. If they like what they hear, they turn their chair around. Each coach can choose 10 hopefuls for their group, and if more than one coach likes an act, the act gets to choose who they want to be their mentor.

Once the four coaches have their group of 10 acts, there is then a battle round. Each coach must pair up their acts to sing the same song against each other, they then must choose who was the better singer and deserves to go through to the next round.

The final round of the competition is the live shows. Here the remaining contestants sing live to remain in the competition based upon their coaches vote and the viewer votes.

What is so great about the show is that it’s not only the contestants who sing, the coaches often join their own acts to perform. There is nothing better than seeing real stars with great voices passing on their expertise, rather than the likes of Cheryl Cole- stars who don’t have a great voice judging people on theirs.

Jessie J is current, fun and has a great powerful voice, so is sure to be a great coach. I think this was a great move by the BBC as she is sure to bring in young viewers who normally watch shows like The X Factor.

The remaining three coaches are expected to confirmed in the coming weeks. Rumors that rock star Lenny Kravitz and Charlotte Church are in talks to join the show are rife.

Auditions for the UK show commence in London on October 31st, with the show airing on the BBC in spring next year.

The Saturdays Land US TV Show

2 Oct

It has just been reported that The Saturdays have landed a TV show with E! Entertainment.

The reality show will follow the band as they try to crack America, this comes after they recently singed a new record deal with a US label.

Plans for the show are due to take place after the girls have completed their upcoming tour in the UK.

It is rumored that pregnant Saturdays star Una Healey will not be involved with all of the show as she will be staying in the UK to give birth. It is however reported that she will join the rest of the girls for a second season of the show, and that she has no plans to leave the group.

The girls already have one huge American fan. Blogger Perez Hilton has shown his support for The Saturdays since the emerged in the UK, and insists he can help the girls make it in the US.

More details of the new show are expected to be released in the next few days.
