The Diamond Jubilee Fashion Spectacular

6 Jun

Day 2 of The Queen’s celebrations kicked off with The Thames River Pageant, whilst some of music’s most iconic stars of the last 60-years joined the Royal family at a live concert outside Buckingham Palace on Monday evening. The weekend of celebrations finished on Tuesday with a Thanksgiving service at St Pauls Cathedral, before the Queen took part in a carriage procession and balcony appearance in front of thousands of excited spectators. Here is a look at all of the fashion from The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee weekend…

Queen Elizabeth II

The Queen impressed at The Thames River Pageant in this white boucle coat with ruched ribbon fastening, designed by The Queen’s regular dresser Angela Kelly. The coat was also embellished with Swarovski crystals and silver and gold applique patterns that shimmered in the light. The choice of white and metallics was a perfect fit for the formal celebration of her diamond jubilee. The Queen teamed the coat with a matching white and metallic decorated hat, her usual pearl jewellery collection and white gloves, along with her dazzling The Jardin Star brooch. Whilst on the Royal Barge, The Queen wrapped a white pashmina over her coat due to the chilly weather conditions.

The Queen once again looked amazing during her appearance at The Diamond Jubilee concert outside Buckingham Palace on Monday evening. For the occasion she chose this gold long-sleeved cocktail dress covered with Swarvoski crystals, along with lace applique detailing, designed by Angela Kelly. The glamourous dress was accompanied by The Queen’s renowned pearl jewellery, black box bag and court shoes, along with olive gloves- a rarity as the monarch usually only wears white or black gloves.

The Queen left her best look to last, wowing on Tuesday in another dress by Angela Kelly for the thanksgiving service at St Paul’s Cathedral and her carriage procession. The mint green dress was made from a fine silk tulle, embroidered with tiny mint flower embellishments and silver thread, this was teamed with a mint green chiffon drape adorned with Swarovski crystals and a matching hat. The Queen accessorised the dress with her three-string pearl necklace and matching earrings, along with an impressive diamond brooch, made from two of the stones from the the world’s largest diamond. Kate accessorised the dress with a silver maritime brooch, which was a gift from Prince William’s Royal Navy Submarine Service, along with nude LK Bennett heels, a red and gold clutch and gold drop earrings. The Duchess carried a scarf made of Strathearn tartan, which she later wore whilst on the royal barge. This outfit was a great choice, as the bold colour not only looked amazing with Kate’s brown glossy hair, it also allowed spectators to spot her easily whilst on the barge.

Kate Middleton swapped high-end designer for The Queen’s jubilee concert, choosing a dress from one  of her favourite high-street stores. Kate wore this pretty blue and purple silk dress from Whistles. The piece which was from last season, sold out in all stores after Kate was previously seen wearing it. She teamed the dress with a navy Alexander McQueen blazer, whilst keeping her famous glossy locks loose in casual waves.

Jessie J Ft David Guetta- ‘Laserlight’ Music Video

11 Apr

Pop sensation Jessie J has unveiled the music for her new single ‘Laserlight’ which features superstar DJ David Guetta.

The track follows Jessie J’s number one hit ‘Domino’ and appears on a repackaged version of her chart topping album ‘Who You Are’.

As expected from a David Guetta track, ‘Laserlight’ has more dancey feel to it than some of Jessie J’s previous songs, however she still manages to make the track her own, with her unique vocals standing out strong. It seems inevitable that the song will be another sure hit for the pair.

Jessie has however received some criticism from fans for the video which accompanies the track due to her raunchy appearance. The backlash started on Twitter after one fan tweeted:

“Not going to lie @jessiejofficial I dont really like the laserlight vid, I can speak for a lot of heartbeats we don’t really think its “you”.  Jessie then responded:

“And what’s ‘me?'” She then went on to comment:”Different is good, change is normal, growth is important.”

Personally I find the backlash quite harsh, compared to other female artists such as Rihanna the video is very tame and Jessie’s outfits in the video still stay strong to her unique style.

‘Laserlight’ is due to be officially released on May 13th.

The Voice UK Panel Unveiled

8 Dec

The final two mentors to star on the BBC’s The Voice were confirmed earlier today.

Welsh star Tom Jones, and The Script’s Danny O’Donoghue will be joining Jessie J and Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am on the panel of mentors.

The diverse panel encourages contestants from all musical backgrounds to take part in the show. Danny O’Donoghue will be keen to mentor acts which have an alternative and ‘rocky’ sound, whilst Jessie J will be great for those who want to take the Pop route. Will.i.am is sure to bring his expertise to those who are interested in urban music, whilst Tom Jones will be great for older contestants and those with more powerful/soulful voices.

Not only will the diverse panel bring a broader range of industry experience than the judges seen on shows like The X Factor, they are also likely to draw in a more diverse audience due to their age range and musical backgroud.

The Voice is due to debut on BBC One early next year, with Holly Willoughby and Reggie Yates fronting the show.

Will.i.am Confirmed For The Voice UK

2 Dec

Upcoming BBC talent show The Voice has just confirmed that Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am will be joining the show as a mentor.

Jessie J was previously confirmed as a mentor a couple of months ago, with rumors of the three remaining mentors rife. Now Will.i.am has been announced to be joining the show, rumors are circulating that the two remaining mentor slots are thought to be Tom Jones and Will Young however, these have not been confirmed.

Will.i.am may not perhaps be known for having an outstanding voice, however, he has worked with some of the World’s biggest stars including Michael Jackson, Usher and Nicki Minaj.

The BBC signing Jessie J and Will.i.am for The Voice is sure to attract young viewers to the show. The show will go up against ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent when it airs early next year, and from the buzz that’s been building, it seems The Voice is favorite to win in the battle of the ratings.

It is thought that the final two mentor slots will be revealed in the coming weeks, so stayed tuned to hear more details about the upcoming show.

Jessie J Confirmed As A Coach On The Voice UK

4 Oct

Jessie J was confirmed as the first coach for the BBC’s new talent show The Voice UK. The news broke on Chris Moyles BBC 1 radio show this morning.

The American version of The Voice has been a huge hit with music stars Christina Aguilera, Cee-lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton coaching contestants. The US show will be returning for a second season early next year.

The format of the show is very different to talent shows like the X Factor. Coaches pick hopefuls who audition for the show based purely on their voice as they will have their back to them. If they like what they hear, they turn their chair around. Each coach can choose 10 hopefuls for their group, and if more than one coach likes an act, the act gets to choose who they want to be their mentor.

Once the four coaches have their group of 10 acts, there is then a battle round. Each coach must pair up their acts to sing the same song against each other, they then must choose who was the better singer and deserves to go through to the next round.

The final round of the competition is the live shows. Here the remaining contestants sing live to remain in the competition based upon their coaches vote and the viewer votes.

What is so great about the show is that it’s not only the contestants who sing, the coaches often join their own acts to perform. There is nothing better than seeing real stars with great voices passing on their expertise, rather than the likes of Cheryl Cole- stars who don’t have a great voice judging people on theirs.

Jessie J is current, fun and has a great powerful voice, so is sure to be a great coach. I think this was a great move by the BBC as she is sure to bring in young viewers who normally watch shows like The X Factor.

The remaining three coaches are expected to confirmed in the coming weeks. Rumors that rock star Lenny Kravitz and Charlotte Church are in talks to join the show are rife.

Auditions for the UK show commence in London on October 31st, with the show airing on the BBC in spring next year.

Jessie J- ‘Who You Are’ Video

2 Oct

The video for Jessie J’s new single ‘Who You Are’ has just premiered online.

‘Who You Are’ is the title track from Jessie J’s debut studio album, and will be the fifth single from to be released from it on November 7th.

The accompanying video to the track, is simple yet still manages to covey the emotion of the song. It is however, rather apparent that Jessie’s broken leg had an impact on the theme of the video, which consists of her sat down in a bedroom singing.

‘Who You Are’ will not be released as a new single for Jessie J in America, as she has recorded a special new track titled ‘Domino’ as her next US single.
