Day 3 of Cannes featured the ‘Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted’ and ‘Once Upon A Time In America’ film premieres. As expected an array of stars set foot on the red carpet ready to impress, here is a look at all their fashion choices…

Paz Vega

Spanish actress Paz Verga stood out on the red carpet in this black and white mermaid gown by Stephanie Roland. The black ruffled feathers on the bottom of the skirt work well as a contrast to the structured white top half of the dress. The cutaway panels at the sides and on the chest of the dress create a seductive feel. Paz opted for sultry bold red lipstick and classic chandelier drop earrings to complete the look.

Jada Pinkett Smith

Jada Pinkett Smith chose this bold orange strapless Atelier Versace dress for her appearance at the Madagascar 3 premiere. The embellished dress, which has a gold-metal crescent edge bodice and a thigh-high split fits Jada like a glove, whilst her gold accessories and Jimmy Choo ‘Suki’ sandals compliment the outfit. The sleaked back hairstyle does make the look seem a little ‘harsh’, whereas softer loose waves would have given Jada’s face a more youthful feel to match the dress. Earlier in the day, Jada wowed at a photo-call in this turquoise chiffon gown by Alberta Ferretti.

Jessica Chastain

Red-headed beauty Jessica Chastain dazzled on the carpet in this Armani Prive gown. The dress has beading detailing on the sweetheart neckline, flowing into a soft pleated skirt. Jessica opted for full-glamour on the night, with Chopard earrings, retro waves and bold red lipstick. Earlier in the day at the Madagascar 3 photo-call Jessica went for this floral Dolce & Gobbana sheath dress. Jessica kept the look ultra feminine by wearing nude peep-toe shoes and soft wavy hair.

Naomi Watts

Naomi Watts radiated in this beautiful Marchesa Fall 2012 gown. There is a lot of detailing going on on this dress, however the nude colour brings simplicity, making the look classy rather than garish. Naomi teamed this gown with silver jewellery and a clutch, with her hair in a loose wavy up-do, accessoried by feather accents.

Salma Hayek

Salma choose this Gucci dress for her appearance at the Once Upon A Time premiere. The dress comes from the Gucci Premiere Collection, designed specifically for Salma. The rich chocolate brown shade of the fabric, combined with the beaded bodice and chiffon skirt adds a luxurious feel to this dress. The fit of the dress works wonders for Salma’s curves, however I feel slightly softer eye-make up would have suited this look better.

Gemma Arterton

Gemma Arterton sparkled in this Gucci silver beaded gown. There is a very unique feel to this dress, that Gemma definitely pulls off by keeping accessories to a minimum, allowing the dress to do all the talking. Gemma’s high ruffled bun and subtle make-up emphasis her natural beauty.

Natasha Poly

Natasha Poly worked it on the red carpet in this striking Gucci gown from the Fall 2012 collection. With a plungeing neckline and thigh-high split, Natasha was sure to turn heads in this outfit. The emerald green fabric has a very luxurious feel to it, that keeps the look classy. Natasha finished the outfit with green and gold accessories, a sleek ponytail and dark kohl eyes, making this one ultra seductive look.

Cannes Film Festival Fashion- Day 1

17 May

The 65th annual Cannes Film Festival got underway last night with the opening premiere of the film ‘Moonrise Kingdom’. The prestigious festival will see some of the World’s biggest stars over the next few days, so be sure to follow our daily Cannes Film Festival Fashion Report.

Day 1

As expected an array of film stars graced the red carpet for the opening premiere, including Eva Longoria, Diane Kruger, Freida Pinto and Tilda Swinton…

Eva Longoria

Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria made a dramatic entrance last night in this gown by Marchesa.

The dress is embellished with silver and diamante detailing, with a transparent cutaway section at the back and a long tulle train. Personally, the front of the dress wasn’t the most flattering of looks, however from the back it looked absolutely stunning.

Eva teamed the dress with an embellished silver clutch, silver jewellery and an elegant up-do.

Diane Kruger

Diane Kruger graced the red carpet in this on-trend mint green couture gown by Giambattista Valli. Diane looked like a Grecian goddess in this floaty gown, teamed with diamond cluster earrings and a soft swept up-do.

Earlier in the day Diane opted for an edgier look for the photo-call of her film ‘Jury’.

Her maroon laced-up mini dress was from the Versus Fall 2012 collection. Diane completed the look with black strappy Jimmy Choo sandals and natural hair and make-up.

Freida Pinto

Slumdog Millionaire star Freida Pinto opted for a multi-coloured strapless gown by Michael Angel for the opening night.

This was a brave look for Freida, which doesn’t quite work. The split on the leg is too high, the gathering around the belt looks bizarre, and lets not mention the platform silver heels.

Freida got her look slightly better on her second outfit of the night, a black sequined Versace gown. The gown which she wore to the opening dinner, again had a thigh-high split.

Lana Del Rey

Lana Del Rey stunned on the red carpet yesterday in this simple yet sophisticated black gown by Alberta Ferretti.

She teamed the floor length dress with a statement diamond necklace and her trademark black box clutch bag. Lana’s left her long flowing looks loose, in sweeping retro waves, seductively placed over her left shoulder.

Lana’s look proved that sometimes a simple classic look works best.

Eva Herzigova

Supermodel Eva Herzigova impressed on the opening evening in this custom embroided Dolce & Gobbana gown.

She finished the look with a Chopard diamond set necklace, sleak wet-look hair , bold red lipstick and a gold clutch.

This look is a tribute to old Hollywood glamour.

George Clooney’s new lady Stacy Keibler has been turning heads this month at her numerous appearances on the red carpet- and last night was no exception. The pair were the talk of the town, when Stacy stepped out in this gorgeous black laced fish-tail gown by Marchesa.

Sofia Vergara

Sofia was all smiles last night after winning an award for comedy series ‘Modern Family’. Sofia looked stunning in this fuschia custom Marchesa gown. The only problem with this look is that the colour of the dress does clash with the red carpet, and that Sofia isn’t daring with the style of gowns she opts for, frequently choosing figure-hugging dresses rather than experimenting with styles. However, if you look this good, then why not stick to what works for you.

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie’s dresses haven’t made much of an impact so far this awards season, but last night she finally made her mark with this draped black gown by Jenny Packham. The sheen of the fabric really makes a bold statement, that not many could pull off. Ange’s sultry smokey eye makeup and nude lips complete this sexy look.

Viola Davis

The Help star Viola Davis looked like a goddess last night in this Grecian style silk gown again by Marchesa. The gold antique detailing on the bust of this dress is exquisite. Viola managed to pick up the award for Best Movie Actress for her role in ‘The Help’.

Jayma Mays

Glee actress Jayma Mays shone on the red carpet in this black sequined Reem Arca gown. The cut of this dress is fabulous from all angles, and the lace panel on the back is the perfect finishing touch.
